Whatwedo

Protein Port is an initiative to strengthen the Dutch ecosystem to boost innovation for alternative proteins. To fulfill our objectives, we have delineated the following six core areas of focus within our operational programs.

Operational Programs

Facilities

This involves assessing the current infrastructure in South Holland, such as fermentation capabilities, and enhancing scale-up facilities through initiatives like campuses and field labs.

Talent and Human Capital

Ensuring a steady supply of skilled labor and aligning educational institutions with the private sector. This is achieved through collaboration with universities, higher education institutions (Hogescholen), and the Food Innovation Academy.

Laws and Regulations

We actively inform trade organizations and national and EU law makers on the need to change laws and regulations that do not support the protein transition.

Commercialization and Market Acceptance

This involves raising awareness and promoting consumer acceptance through inspiring events and tastings in partnership with organizations like Campus@Sea and NorthSea Farmers.

Finance and Funding

We provide a comprehensive overview of funding opportunities, including directories of national subsidies and investors through initiatives such as IQ, governmental organizations and Invest NL.

Research Collaboration

We want to disclose current research activities of Protein Port members and funding opportunities. Protein Port will implement active matchmaking and offer support to members that wish to collaborate.
